History of the Don Bosco Past Pupils National Federation of Pakistan

The Don Bosco Past Pupils National Federation of Pakistan was established with the vision of uniting the alumni of Don Bosco institutions across Pakistan under the spirit and charism of St. John Bosco. Inspired by the Salesian motto of forming “Good Christians and Honest Citizens,” the Federation strives to promote youth empowerment, social responsibility, Christian values, and lifelong fraternity among Don Bosco Past Pupils.

The Beginning

In August 2019, the Salesian Community of Lahore, Pakistan, recognized the need to reconnect with the alumni of Don Bosco Technical Centre, Lahore, and revive the Past Pupils Association in Pakistan. To accomplish this mission, the Salesian Community appointed Bro. Alexander, SDB, as the Salesian Delegate to coordinate and lead the initiative.

Bro. Alexander began inviting former students of Don Bosco Technical Centre, Lahore, to come together once again as one family. The first alumni gathering was held in August 2019, with four alumni attending the meeting. Although the beginning was humble, it marked the rebirth of the Don Bosco Past Pupils movement in Pakistan.

Encouraged by this positive start, a second meeting was held in September 2019, where the number of participants doubled to eight alumni, reflecting the growing interest and commitment among former students.

Formation of the Association

On 20 October 2019, the third alumni meeting was held with sixteen alumni in attendance. During this historic gathering, the participants unanimously agreed to formally establish the Don Bosco Past Pupils Association of Pakistan.

At the same meeting, Mr. Asif Daniel (Son of Mr. Daniel Tasleem) was elected as the first National President of the Don Bosco Past Pupils Association of Pakistan for the term October 2019 – September 2023.

Following his election, President Asif Daniel appointed members of his Executive Council to assist in leading the association and expanding its mission throughout Pakistan. Under his leadership, the association grew steadily, strengthening alumni engagement while promoting the educational and spiritual values of Don Bosco.

Years of Service and Leadership

For more than Seven years, Mr. Asif Daniel has dedicated his life to serving poor, marginalized, and underprivileged youth throughout Pakistan. Guided by the Salesian spirit, he has devoted himself to promoting education, youth empowerment, leadership formation, peacebuilding, interfaith harmony, and opportunities for disadvantaged young people.

Throughout his service, Mr. Asif Daniel, together with the National Senior Vice President, Mr. Asif Boota (Son of Mr. Boota Khushi Masih), has worked tirelessly to improve the lives of countless young people. In carrying out this mission, they have encountered numerous challenges, including personal hardships, religious discrimination, social prejudice, and security threats because of their humanitarian and community work. Despite these difficulties, they remained steadfast in their commitment to serving the poor and needy youth of Pakistan without discrimination.

Their perseverance, courage, and dedication have earned the respect of many communities and strengthened the mission of Don Bosco in Pakistan.

Major Initiatives

During President Asif Daniel’s leadership, the Federation successfully implemented several significant projects and initiatives, including:

• The Jaranwala Incident Relief and Rehabilitation Initiative, providing humanitarian assistance, educational support, and solidarity to Christian families affected by the tragic attacks.
• The Ziarat School Project, promoting quality education for children living in remote and underserved communities.
• Promotion of the Cause of the Servant of God Akash Bashir, sharing his inspiring witness of faith, sacrifice, courage, and hope through seminars, youth gatherings, conferences, and awareness programmes both nationally and internationally.
• Youth Leadership, Formation, and Skills Development Programmes, encouraging young people to become responsible leaders and active members of society.
• Expansion and Strengthening of the Don Bosco Past Pupils Movement across Pakistan while fostering collaboration with Salesian institutions and organizations.
• Also President represent Pakistan National Federation to the Worldwide Past Pupils activities espacially in Italy (twice – 2024 & 2026) 

A Historic Milestone

After successfully completing his first four-year term in September 2023, Mr. Asif Daniel was re-elected as National President for a second term (September 2023 – August 2027) in recognition of his outstanding leadership, dedication, and commitment to the Salesian mission.

During his second term, another historic milestone was achieved when the National Federation of Don Bosco Past Pupils Pakistan received official recognition from the World Confederation of the Past Pupils of Don Bosco, formally making Pakistan part of the worldwide Don Bosco Past Pupils family.

Following his re-election, President Asif Daniel appointed a new Executive Council to continue the mission and further strengthen the Federation.

Looking Ahead

Today, the Don Bosco Past Pupils National Federation of Pakistan continues to grow as a vibrant movement committed to serving society through the Salesian values of faith, service, solidarity, and education. Inspired by the example of St. John Bosco, the Federation remains dedicated to forming young people into “Good Christians and Honest Citizens” while working for justice, peace, education, and the holistic development of Pakistan’s youth.
